2016 Falesco Famiglia Cotarella Montiano Merlot

Bolgheri Tuscany is not the only region of Italy to successfully grow French grapes.  This big 100% Merlot is Famiglia Cotarella's flagship wine.

Grown in Lazio in the production area of Montefiascone and Castiglione in Teverina, 2016 was a particularly good vintage. The wine is aged in barriques for 12 months before release. The colour is a striking deep ruby and the nose is jammy and sweet with notes of vanilla. 

This Merlot pairs well with rich meat dishes, an excellent food matching wine. 

Coming into its drinking window but has the potential for cellaring up to 2030.
