Masi Mezzanella Amarone

The first thing to note about this grappa is the high alocohol content at 50%. Masi has backed itself with this grappa, by making something bold, and it works.

The pomace is from the semi-dried grapes used to make Recioto and Amarone. Named after the vineyard where the grapes originate - Vaio Mezzanella in Valpolicella Classica. 

The nose is intense and spicy. Despite the high alcohol content the palate is warm and soothing, and notes of nutshell and honey linger as the grappa goes down.

Masi Mezzanella pairs well with dry desserts and bitter chocolate.
