Mazzetti first set about making quality riserva grappa by taking the best barolo marc, distilling it gently, and ageing it for eighteen months in oak barriques. This process, identical to making a Mazzetti riserva grappa and brings out complex hints of spice, roasted and dried fruits.

Only after this quality has been imparted on the grappa is it then transferred to barrels previously used to age bourbon whiskey, which turns the grappa soft and silky on the palate and introduces a further layer of delicious toastiness and spice.
